Accessibility

At Seats at the Table, we are committed to creating an inclusive and accessible online experience for all visitors.

We design our website using universal design principles - making information clear, navigation simple, and barriers minimal for a wide range of thinking styles, sensory needs, and access requirements.

Website Accessibility Features

  • Clear headings, logical structure, and easy-to-read language.

  • Strong colour contrast for better readability.

  • Alt text on meaningful images.

  • Keyboard navigable wherever possible.

Content Adjustments options: Adjust Font Size, Highlight Title, Highlight Links, Dyslexia Font, Letter Spacing, Line Height, and Font Weight. Colour Adjustments options: Dark Contrast, Light Contrast, High Contrast, High Saturation, Low Saturation, and Monochrome. Tools include Reading Guide, Stop Animations, and Big Cursor. The top bar has a refresh and a close button.

Accessibility Tools We Use

We also provide an accessibility toolbar, powered by the open-source Accessibility Widget, developed by Sienna.

On the right, you can see a picture of the Accessibility Widget once opened. Use the accessibility menu to adjust for a more comfortable browsing experience.
This tool allows you to:

  • Increase or decrease text size.

  • Change contrast (invert colours, grayscale options).

  • Highlight links for easier navigation.

  • Switch to a dyslexia-friendly readable font.

You can find the accessibility toolbar icon, (which is a white figure with outstretched arms inside a blue circle,) on the bottom left of your screen.
Click on the icon to open the accessibility menu and adjust settings to suit your needs.

We are incredibly grateful to Sienna and the Accessibility Widget project for making these free tools available to everyone.
